Website added round corners!

Had some spare time (or should I say a few hours during a sleepless night) to add some round corners and fix some bugs.

Legendskate.com is now running on a new debian server in germany. With rails 2.3.3 and ruby 1.9.1.

Huray let's celebrate the updated site&server with a kickflip bicycle ;)

New board gfx

Added a little 'skate or die' touch to the board gfx. Will ask some people first before making the decision to switch to this new gfx:

Currently editing some Hurghada footage ( but having sound sync probs ):

Meanwhile enjoy this great contest footage of Area 51, so many great skaters in benelux nowadays! Youness Amrani and Phil Zwijsen ripped along with the great dutch talents.

Best Of The West

The first part of the Best of the West contest was in Menen. Bad floors still some good skating. Promises for even better contests in future (2 to go).

Congrats to Phil Zwijsen for taking first place on first two episodes!

Ow yeah if people tried to login or sign up on legendskate. I just noticed today it's not working anymore :(.

Found the problem today or rather tested my latest version and this does not have the problem (got everything running on legend beta site, which will be the newer version of this site soon :) )

Some Hurghada Skating

Created 16 Feb 2009 08:00PM has 0 comments!

So after 3 weeks of working in Hurghada I had almost no time to skate. Luckily Tristan kept on skating during 2008 and made some footage while I was away. The first part is kinda slow but towards the end he picks up some speed. In march I will go back and we will film together, mo speed, mo tricks, mo money haha. Anyway I'm ready to do my first order of decks at the end of this month. Meanwhile enjoy some Egypt skating :

Last week I had 2 days of vacation and thanks to Tristen we found a new skatepark in El Gouna 'under construction' after running through the sand, crossing the ramp, barely got enough speed to pop:

Hopefully when I'm back in 8th of march they'll have finished it (notice all coopings are missing and the ramp is only 1 layer of wood). Hopefully they will atleast have expanded the concrete so I can give Tristan some tips on transfer tricks. As seen in the footage above, stairs and gaps are already his element :D

October Footage

Ok got up at 6 AM before work and finally finished editing the october footage, enjoy.

Direct link to google video while embedded is not working (during processing of google).

Many things went wrong in october which caused our video delay:

  • Fish-eye lens is cool but it made our camera go out of focus and many runs were just not useable :(.
  • A tram hit our car causing delay in ordering the boards and costing me precious time.
  • The egypt footage was with bad encryption impossible to open in final cut. Luckily I was able to import 2 big tricks from Tristan after using some conversion software (but this was way tedious work and the sound was lost too).
  • Our camera has only 1 battery and it dies way too fast. Best stuff from Area 51 didn't make it on film :(

In short, we need a new camera and step up our game! ;)

Site style a bit better and new logo.

Bit more time to work on the site style. The final board logo will be without 'skate.com' unlike the logo on the website header. Most riders voted to have the legend logo seperately on their board which sounded like a good idea to me too ;). Here is a preview:
Ok so tonight I've locked myself in at home and will not leave until I finish editing our footage from last week, expect a video soon because I wanna go out, it's saturday night after all, haha :).

First trailer import in new site

Still some sound and focus problems (actually the better runs where all unusable due to focus or lighting problems). But for the first camera test run and final cut experience it is ok:

Legend site first rails import

Created 10 Oct 2008 05:42PM has 1 comments!

Still buckload of work to do but the legend site is riding ruby on rails now! The header gfx are not good (small line in middle needs fixing). Colors need tweaking etc. But now its time to get some more footage... its allmost 18h and we're leaving to Area 51! We got some mad footage in egypt and yesterday in antwerp but problems with importing it in final cut. Expect this site to change a lot the next few days...
